Description

Understanding the Tender Process - Improving your Bid

Successful contractors don't just focus on the requirement detailed in the invitation to tender, but look far deeper to understand what the expectation is from the specifier. This doesn't just mean reading the ITT but also taking the time to interrogate the contracting authority's website and understanding some of the key drivers that are inherent in everything it does.

Winning tenders need to address both the identified and unidentified requirements within the specification and pinpoint both the tangible and intangible benefits delivered to the contracting authority, including:

  • Added Value
  • Social Benefits
  • Innovation
  • Reduced Risk
  • Environmental Improvements

This PASS workshop looks at the nuances of public sector tendering and delivers sound advice and guidance on key issues to consider when drafting your response.

The workshop will focus on the content and composition of successful tenders and how these can be emulated in your submission.

By examining the expectations of public sector buyers, this PASS workshop will provide attendees with an insight into the key objectives of the public sector and identify areas through which the contractor can meet and exceed the desired outcomes.

This workshop will also explain the other soft issues around the tender process, including evaluation and debriefing.

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed specifically to help contractors to increase their success levels and is therefore appropriate for those who are relatively inexperienced in the public sector marketplace, or organisations that have struggled with the tender stage, to better understand the requirements detailed in the public procurement regulations.

Why attend?

Simply answering questions in a tender exercise is never enough. Understanding the key drivers and ethos of the public sector and reflecting your awareness of these in your response can help to lift your tender above those of your competitors. This workshop looks to provide some insights into how tenderers can include these aspects in their responses.

Delegates will learn the importance of reading concisely the accompanying terms and conditions of contract and the value of asking questions at the earliest point, particularly where briefings are offered.

They will also gain a clearer understanding of how to identify non-quantifiable benefits of their solution whilst at the same time showing the added value they are offering. Delegates will also gain a clear understanding of the evaluation process and of their rights to challenge under the Remedies regime.
